YSD Excellence Scholarship Programmes
This annual scholarship programme applies to high flying, well-rounded candidates who wish to pursue full-time studies locally and overseas.

Category: Enrichment

YSD Skill Enrichment Programme
Scholarships will be offered to successful candidates to pursue technical certificate and diploma programmes at Sime Darby Plantation Academy, Sime Darby Nursing and Health Sciences College or Sime Darby Industrial Academy. Scholarships include full tuition fees, living and book allowances. - Find out more. 
Category: Underprivileged
YSD Bursary Programme
The ‘Underprivileged’ scholarship category awards “special needs” or OKU students as well as individuals from low income families who have achieved satisfactory academic performance to pursue higher education at reputable local institutions in Malaysia through the YSD Bursary Programme.

Important Note:

  • Scholarships for postgraduate and undergraduate (overseas) under Excellence Category are not available at this time as this year's scholars have been identified with scholarship awarded in an earlier recruitment exercise.
  • Scholarships and bursaries for Medicine, Pharmacy and other fields of study not mentioned in the scholarship criteria are not available for this year.

Pre-University Scholarship Programme

Intake: Jan 2013
  • Students who achieved excellent result in ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) 2012 Trial Examination.
  • Interested to pursue undergraduate studies either in US, UK or Australia.

Undergraduate Scholarship Programme (Local) 

Intake: 2013
  • Students who have completed or in the final semester of their foundation courses, local matriculation programme or diploma programme.
  • Have applied to selected public and private universities in Malaysia.
  • First year students currently pursuing local degrees are encouraged to apply.
Next intake will open in 2013

Undergraduate Scholarship Programme (China)

Intake: 2013
  • Students who achieved excellent result in ‘Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia’ (STPM) 2011; OR A-Level OR ‘The Unified Examination Certificate’ (UEC).
  • Have applied to selected universities in China.
  • Bumiputeras with proficient Mandarin are encouraged to apply.
  • First or second year students currently pursuing degrees at selected universities in China are encouraged to apply.

Pre-University Scholarship Programme (China)
Intake: 2013
  • Students who achieved excellent result in ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) 2011.
  • Proficient in Mandarin AND/OR keen to pursue undergraduate courses at selected universities in China.
  • Bumiputeras are encouraged to apply.

Underprivileged Category  
School Leavers Educational Assistance and Industrial Training (SEAIT) Programme

Intake:Jan 2013
  • SPM school leavers aged 17 to 25 years old. 
  • Total household income of less than RM2,500 per month.
  • Obtained at least 5 credits (including English and Mathematics) in SPM examination.

Diploma Bursary Programme (Local)

Intake: 2013
  • Students who achieved at least 5 credits in ‘Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia’ (SPM) examination.
  • Obtained at least 5 credits (including English and Mathematics) in SPM examination
    Total household income of RM2,500 and below.
  • Have applied to recognised public and private universities in Malaysia.

Special Needs Bursary Programme (Local)

Intake: 2013
  • OKU students who have applied to recognised public and private universities in Malaysia.
  • Total household income of RM2,500 and below.

Skill Enrichment Category  
Skill Enrichment Programme
  • Students who have achieved at least 5 credits in 'Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia' (SPM) examination.
  • Have applied to or currently enrolled in one of Sime Darby Academies.
